What Is MuzTerapevt.Ru

Established in 2013 by Alisa Apreleva, MT-BC, MuzTerapevt.Ru is an open educational initiative to advocate for evidence-based music therapy in Russia. The web site serves as an information resource, as well as a networking and communication medium for practicing music therapists, other specialists using music as a therapeutic medium, volunteer musicians, clients, and interested organizations and individuals in Russia and beyond. Each year MuzTerapevt.Ru organizes annual International Conference for Therapeutic Use of Music in Moscow (May) and European Music Therapy Day celebration (November).

We conduct pro bono in-services, presentations, consultations and workshops, supporting Russian speaking professionals and volunteers. Among our collaborators are orphanages, special education facilities, institutions for adults with profound psychoneurological needs, assisted living facilities, hospices, psychiatric facilities, rehabilitation centers for adults and children with special needs, neurorehabilitation clinics, and hospitals.

Another important aspect of MuzTerapevt.Ru team work is to integrate Russian music therapy process into the global music therapy practice and community through communication and collaboration with professional music therapists from all over the world. Our presentations on music therapy and therapeutic use of music in Russia took place at Online Conference for Music Therapy (2015, 2016), Music Therapy Global Symposium at Berklee College of Music (2015), and more.
